Life Cycle Assessment Specialist
As Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Specialist, you will lead the development, delivery, and maintenance of building and infrastructure LCAs across CTS Groups data centre portfolio. You will work with design, engineering, procurement, and sustainability teams to quantify embodied and operational carbon, support multi-regional compliance, and integrate LCA outputs into design and client decision-making.
The role is hands-on and technical. You will be responsible for building and managing LCA models (with One Click LCA as the core platform), structuring datasets and assumptions, interpreting results, and translating findings into clear recommendations for project teams and clients. Experience with green building rating systems (e.g. LEED, BREEAM) and an engineering or technical background will be a strong advantage. You will be supported by a dedicated onsite team of sustainability professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- LCA Modelling. Develop, maintain, and document whole life carbon and embodied carbon models for data centres using One Click LCA, from early design through to detailed design and procurement stages.
- Data and Assumptions Management. Define system boundaries, scenarios, and data sources; manage material quantity take-offs, EPD data, and generic datasets; and maintain clear records of assumptions and methodology.
- Multi-Regional Compliance. Structure LCA work to align with requirements in different jurisdictions and frameworks (e.g. LEED LCA credits, BREEAM Mat01, local regulations, client specifications, and relevant European standards).
- Design Support. Work with design, engineering, and construction teams to identify high-impact elements and evaluate design and material options based on carbon, cost, and program implications.
- Client and Stakeholder Outputs. Prepare clear reports, summaries, and visual outputs communicating LCA methods, key results, sensitivities, and recommended actions to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Standards and Methodology Development. Contribute to the development of internal LCA standards, templates, and workflows for data centre projects to support consistency and scalability across the portfolio.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, or a related technical discipline. A relevant Master’s degree is an advantage.
- 5+ years’ experience in life cycle assessment for buildings or infrastructure, ideally including high-technology or data centre projects.
- Practical experience using One Click LCA as a primary LCA tool; familiarity with other tools or databases is an advantage.
- Solid understanding of LCA standards and frameworks (e.g. EN 15804/15978, ISO 14040/44) and their application in construction projects.
Experience supporting LEED, BREEAM, or similar rating systems; LEED AP or equivalent accreditation is a strong advantage.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, BIM models, and quantity take-offs, and to work effectively with designers and engineers.
Strong analytical skills, with experience handling datasets, performing sensitivity analyses, and explaining technical results to non-specialists.
