HSE Officer – Construction Projects (Norway)
We are looking for a hands-on and proactive HSE Officer to join our construction projects in Norway. You will play a key role in keeping our sites safe, supporting workers and contractors, and ensuring compliance with both legal and company HSE standards. This is a site-based role where you will be visible, engaged, and part of a team that values safety and collaboration.
What You’ll Do
On a typical day, you will walk the site, observe work practices, and identify potential hazards. You will engage with workers, lead safety briefings, and deliver inductions for new team members and visitors. Keeping records, completing checklists, and ensuring all equipment is safe and compliant will also be part of your routine. You will provide guidance and support to supervisors and contractors, coach safe behaviors, and step in when conditions are unsafe. You will assist with incident investigations, support audits, and take part in emergency drills, helping us continuously improve how we work safely.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting daily site inspections and safety observations
Leading HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and daily briefings
Maintaining checklists, photographic records, and HSE logs
Verifying ladders, scaffolding, MEWPs, and lifting equipment
Coaching and guiding supervisors and subcontractors
Supporting incident investigations and audits
Participating in emergency drills and lessons learned sessions
Who We’re Looking For
You have a Bachelor’s degree in HSE or a related field, and certifications like NEBOSH IGC or ISO 45001 are a plus. Ideally, you bring 3–5 years of experience from construction or industrial HSE roles, especially on fast-paced or complex sites. You are proactive, observant, and approachable. You communicate clearly, act decisively when safety is at risk, and enjoy engaging with people on site. You are comfortable using HSE tools and MS Office, and fluent in English. Knowledge of Norwegian HSE regulations is a strong advantage.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in HSE or related field
NEBOSH IGC, ISO 45001, or similar certifications (preferred)
3–5 years in site-based HSE roles
Strong knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety audits
Experience with training, coaching, and engaging site teams
Proactive, structured, and approachable
Fluent in English; knowledge of Norwegian HSE regulations is a plus
