HSE Officer
We are looking for an HSE Officer to support health, safety, and environmental compliance on construction and engineering projects in Norway. You will assist in daily on-site HSE activities, ensuring safe work practices, compliance with regulations, and engagement with workers and contractors.
What You’ll Do
You will perform site inspections, monitor HSE compliance, support risk management, deliver inductions and toolbox talks, and assist in incident investigations. You will help maintain accurate HSE records and support audits, contributing to a proactive safety culture on site.
Key responsibilities include:
Conduct daily site inspections and safety observations, providing feedback to the HSE Lead
Assist in incident investigations and track corrective actions
Perform safety inductions and support daily toolbox talks
Monitor statutory inspections and ensure all equipment and access systems are compliant
Support preparation for audits by authorities, clients, and ISO teams
Conduct behavioral safety observations and coach site teams on safe practices
Participate in emergency drills and review lessons learned
Maintain HSE documentation, photographic records, and logs
Provide first-level HSE guidance to supervisors and workers
Support contractor coaching on hazard identification and control measures
Who We’re Looking For
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in HSE or a related field, with NEBOSH IGC, ISO 45001 Certification, or equivalent. You have experience supporting construction HSE activities, are proactive, observant, and have a strong commitment to safety and compliance.
Qualifications & Skills:
Knowledge of Norwegian construction safety regulations and HSE laws
Familiarity with incident reporting procedures and HSE documentation
Ability to perform inspections, audits, and permit validation
Strong communication and coaching skills
Proficiency in MS Office and HSE tools
Fluency in English, written and spoken
Experience Requirements
3–5 years of experience in construction HSE or similar roles
Experience supporting incident management, audits, and behavioral safety programs
Soft Skills
Observant, detail-oriented, and proactive
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Able to work collaboratively with site teams and subcontractors
Calm under pressure and able to escalate safety concerns appropriately
