The Role
As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical systems during the bidding process. You will review tender documentation, perform quantity take-offs, assess supplier and subcontractor pricing, and work closely with the Electrical Estimating Lead and wider bids team to build commercially competitive proposals. Your work will be critical to ensuring complete, well-structured, and realistic submissions for projects across the region.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, security, and communication systems.
Review project specifications, drawings, cable schedules, single-line diagrams, and tender documents to define scope and project requirements.
Perform accurate quantity take-offs and calculate material, equipment, and labour costs.
Source and assess supplier and subcontractor quotations to ensure competitive and realistic pricing.
Identify commercial risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options to strengthen submissions.
Collaborate with the Electrical Estimating Lead and bids team to produce complete and compelling tender packages.
Prepare pricing schedules, tender breakdowns, and supporting documentation for bid submissions.
Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and stakeholder discussions to gather key project insights.
Maintain and improve estimating databases, historical cost records, unit rates, and discipline KPIs.
Track market developments and fluctuations in material and labour costs to keep estimates current and reliable.
Support post-bid reviews and work with other discipline estimators to improve future bid performance.
Coordinate with procurement, design, and construction teams to validate assumptions and align estimates with delivery expectations.

Who We Are Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, construction management, or a related field.
A diploma or certification in estimating, quantity surveying, or electrical systems would be an advantage.
3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry.
Experience working on large-scale or technically complex projects is highly desirable.
A strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and installation methods.
Proficiency in estimating software such as CostX or similar tools, along with strong Excel and Word skills.
The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documentation with accuracy.
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a structured approach to problem-solving.
Clear communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
