Mechanical Engineer / Supervisor – Data Centre Project

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / Supervisor to join our project team in Fyresdal and support the delivery of a major data centre development.

The role will focus on the day-to-day execution and supervision of mechanical works on site, ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with project drawings, specifications, quality requirements and programme.

You will work closely with mechanical subcontractors, site management, QA/QC, HSE, electrical, CSA and commissioning teams across mechanical systems including HVAC, cooling, chilled water, pipework, ventilation and associated plant.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Site Delivery

• Supervise and follow up mechanical installation activities on site.

• Coordinate mechanical subcontractors and ensure works are completed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.

• Monitor daily progress and identify constraints, delays or technical issues affecting delivery.

• Support planning and sequencing of mechanical works and ensure workfronts are ready for execution.

• Verify that labour, materials and equipment are available to support planned activities.

Technical Support

• Review mechanical drawings, technical documentation and installation requirements.

• Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors.

• Identify design or installation issues and coordinate solutions with engineering and project teams.

• Support technical queries, RFIs and coordination between disciplines.

• Ensure works reflect approved design information and project standards.

Quality

• Carry out site inspections and monitor installation quality.

• Support ITPs, inspections, walk-downs, snagging and punch-list closeout.

• Ensure mechanical works meet project quality requirements and relevant standards.

• Coordinate with QA/QC teams to resolve quality issues and close documentation requirements.

HSE

• Promote strong safety standards across all mechanical activities.

• Ensure subcontractors comply with project HSE requirements and approved working methods.

• Participate in site inspections, toolbox talks and daily coordination activities.

• Identify and escalate unsafe conditions or working practices.

Commissioning & Handover

• Support testing, commissioning and system completion activities.

• Coordinate with commissioning teams to ensure systems are ready for testing and turnover.

• Support flushing, pressure testing and other mechanical testing activities where required.

• Assist with punch-list closeout, documentation and handover preparation.

Coordination & Reporting

• Coordinate mechanical works with electrical, CSA, BMS and commissioning teams.

• Participate in coordination and progress meetings.

• Provide clear updates on progress, constraints, upcoming activities and site issues.

• Support Site Managers and project leadership with day-to-day mechanical delivery.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Relevant degree, diploma or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services or a related discipline.

• Relevant trade background combined with strong site experience may also be considered.

Experience

• Strong experience in mechanical construction, engineering or supervision on large-scale projects.

• Experience supervising mechanical subcontractors and installation teams.

• Good practical understanding of mechanical systems and construction sequencing.

• Experience from data centres, industrial, energy, pharmaceutical, mission-critical or other complex construction environments is highly desirable.

• Experience supporting testing, commissioning and handover activities is advantageous.

Technical Knowledge

Good working knowledge of:

• HVAC systems

• Chilled water and cooling systems

• Pipework and mechanical services

• Ventilation systems

• Mechanical plant and equipment

• Construction drawings and specifications

• Inspection and testing processes

• Multidisciplinary site coordination

Fluent English, written and spoken, is required.
