Role Overview

The Junior Hydraulic Design Engineer develops assigned tasks within the hydraulic design team's efforts on large-scale data centre projects, covering domestic water, sewage drainage, rainwater drainage, fire-fighting, and fire suppression systems (excluding underground works outside the building's footprint). This includes developing calculations, designing systems and layouts, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

The role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams and client-facing interactions, maintaining high standards of quality and safety, with technical guidance provided by senior hydraulic engineers.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the design and specification of hydraulic components and systems for large-scale projects, under guidance, helping ensure safety, quality, and functionality standards are met.

• Develop hydraulic models and drawings using Revit with the MagiCAD plug-in.

• Develop schematic drawings using AutoCAD.

• Develop hydraulic calculations, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry standards.

• Use Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) to help manage project stages and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

• Support regulatory compliance reviews, helping ensure designs align with relevant standards and regulations.

• Assist with reviewing and validating designs for compliance with standards and client requirements, under senior guidance.

• Help identify and report non-compliance, potential budget deviations, or delays to senior team members.

• Collaborate with project managers, architects, and other engineering teams to support successful integration with other disciplines.

• Bring a strong interest in the hydraulics field of engineering and a willingness to learn.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Hydraulic Engineering.

• 3–5 years of experience in hydraulic, fire protection, or plumbing design, or MEP design more broadly.

• Working knowledge of Revit with the MagiCAD plug-in, and AutoCAD.

• Exposure to Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or similar common data environment platforms.

• Ability to manage multiple assigned tasks with a focus on quality and timely delivery.

• Written and verbal communication skills in English.

• Proactive, collaborative, and detail-oriented, with the ability to stay composed under pressure.
