Electrical Estimator
As an Electrical Estimator, you will play a pivotal role in our data centre bid process on both negotiated and open tendered projects. Work closely with the Estimating Manager as well as a multidisciplinary team of engineers, industry experts and in-house electrical and associated key contractors in the data centre field across Europe.
Responsibilities:
- Involved in the full tender process from beginning to completion
- Ensuring bid compliance with employers’ requirements
- Managing relevant key subcontractor and supplier bids and ensuring compliance
- Liaising with relevant parties and maintaining continuous communication with stakeholders.
- Interrogate our own design submissions on D&B projects
- As and when necessary, completing take-offs, and/or sanity checking of BOQs prepared by others
- Value engineering, identifying key areas without compromising quality or project scope.
- Risk analysis
- Critical appraisal of both employer requirements and our bids to bring added value and identify errors, omissions or duplications etc
- Final bid preparation and validation
- Attend meetings as required
- Assist in the development of estimating software, database, etc
- Minimal travel as required
- Provide support to the wider construction team as required
- Perform any additional tasks or responsibilities relevant to the role as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A diploma or certification in estimating, quantity surveying, or electrical systems is an advantage.
- 3–5 years of experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry.
- Experience with large-scale projects is preferred.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and installation practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., CostX or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
