Mechanical Design Engineer

We are rapidly expanding into other markets globally. In addition to D&B, we develop and produce digital systems tailored for the Data Center industry and standardized self-contained units.
We’re looking for an Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team in Lisbon/Porto.
What will you be doing?
You’ll take ownership of mechanical and HVAC design solutions throughout the project lifecycle. Your key responsibilities will include:
⚙️ Sizing air conditioning, ventilation, pump, pipe, fan, and duct systems
📊 Developing Thermal Load calculations using tools like IES, HAP, or Trace
📐 Creating P&ID and PFD diagrams using AutoCAD and Revit
🏢 Selecting specialist equipment including Chillers, Fan Coils, CRAHs, and AHUs
✍️ Producing complete system designs from scratch based on technical requirements and starting points
📚 Writing comprehensive technical specifications, reports, and documentation
📋 Checking designs for compliance with project specifications, contracts, industry standards, and local/international codes
🔗 Managing technical interfaces between mechanical systems and electrical, fire safety, structural, and acoustic requirements
🤝 Working alongside other design and engineering professionals to refine concept designs
💡 Proposing proactive initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and design consistency
💼 Providing key technical support during the BID process.
What are we looking for?
Your technical and professional background:
🎓 Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering Experience level
Experience (multiple levels) in electrical design or related engineering functions:
Junior: Minimum 3 years of experience
Intermediate: Minimum 5 years of experience
Senior: Minimum 8 years of experience, including 2+ years of direct experience with Data Centres or comparable mission-critical infrastructure
Solid background in HVAC design (Heating, Ventilation, Air-Conditioning) for industry, office buildings, clean rooms, or Data Centres Extensive knowledge of cooling technologies, air handling/treatment installations, and supporting mechanical systems (piping, pumps, ducts, fans)
Familiarity with Data Centre international and local standards (e.g., ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, TIA, EN50600)
Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, Revit) and calculation software (IES, HAP, Trace)
🇬🇧 Advanced English proficiency — mandatory
