Structural Engineer - Data Centres

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineer to join our growing project team in Oslo. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the design and delivery of world-class data centre projects, supporting some of the most advanced digital infrastructure developments in the region.

Reporting to the Project Director, you will play a key role in designing, analysing, and overseeing structural solutions for mission-critical facilities. You will ensure that structures can safely support heavy mechanical and electrical equipment while meeting the demanding performance, scalability, and sustainability requirements of hyperscale data centre operators.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Design & Analysis

• Perform detailed structural calculations for steel and reinforced concrete structures.

• Design building systems capable of supporting extreme floor loads and roof-mounted equipment.

• Ensure structures can withstand environmental, seismic, and operational loads.

Vibration Control

• Design specialist foundations and framing systems to minimise vibrations generated by backup generators, cooling systems, and other critical infrastructure.

BIM & Coordination

• Develop and manage 3D structural models using Revit, Tekla, or similar BIM platforms.

• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate structural interfaces with MEP systems, cable trays, and pipework.

Retrofit & Upgrade Projects

• Assess existing buildings and structures for brownfield developments.

• Evaluate structural capacity for higher rack densities, equipment upgrades, and liquid cooling solutions.

Sustainability

• Support sustainability initiatives through the use of low-carbon concrete, recycled steel, and innovative engineering solutions.

• Contribute to achieving project and corporate net-zero objectives.

Project Support

• Participate in constructability reviews and risk assessments.

• Support fast-track project delivery and construction-stage design modifications.

• Ensure full compliance with relevant regulations, technical standards, and project specifications.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of structural design for industrial, mission-critical, or large-scale infrastructure projects.

• Proficiency with structural analysis software such as:

  • SAP2000

  • ETABS

  • RISA-3D

• Experience with BIM tools such as Revit or Tekla.

• Understanding of modular construction and integration principles.

• Familiarity with relevant structural design codes and standards.

• Knowledge of fast-track construction methodologies.

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience within industrial, commercial, or mission-critical construction projects.

• Experience working on large-scale warehouses, manufacturing facilities, data centres, or similar complex structures.

• Demonstrated experience coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.

• Experience supporting construction-phase design changes and technical queries.
