Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Deputy Project Director to support the successful delivery of a major hyperscale data centre project in Fyresdal, Norway.
Reporting directly to the Project Director, the Deputy Project Director will play a critical leadership role in managing day-to-day project execution, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, maintaining client relationships, and ensuring project objectives are met across safety, programme, quality, and commercial performance.
This role is ideal for a senior construction professional ready to take the next step into executive project leadership within the rapidly growing data centre sector.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Delivery
Support the Project Director in the overall management and delivery of the project lifecycle.
Drive project execution activities from pre-construction through commissioning and final handover.
Ensure project milestones, key deliverables, and client expectations are achieved.
Provide leadership and direction to project managers, package managers, engineers, and construction teams.
Client & Stakeholder Management
Act as a key point of contact for clients, consultants, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and problem-solving.
Lead project meetings and participate in client workshops, progress reviews, and executive briefings.
Support the preparation and presentation of reports to senior leadership and stakeholders.
Programme & Commercial Management
Monitor project schedules and support recovery planning where required.
Assist in managing budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and commercial performance.
Review project risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation strategies where necessary.
Ensure change management processes are effectively managed and documented.
Construction & Operational Oversight
Coordinate activities across civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning disciplines.
Ensure resources, materials, and subcontractors are aligned with project requirements.
Monitor project productivity and performance metrics.
Support commissioning readiness and successful project handover.
Health, Safety & Quality
Champion a culture of safety excellence throughout the project.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
Attend and actively participate in EHS, quality, and operational review meetings.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across project delivery teams.
Team Leadership
Mentor and support delivery teams to achieve project objectives.
Foster collaboration across project departments and stakeholder groups.
Support workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
Chair weekly meetings with project teams, design teams, subcontractors, and clients.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline.
Professional certifications such as PMP, Chartered Engineer, or equivalent are advantageous.
Experience
10+ years of experience in construction project delivery.
Minimum 3-5 years in a senior project leadership role on large-scale construction projects.
Proven experience delivering mission-critical, industrial, infrastructure, pharmaceutical, or data centre projects.
Experience managing projects valued in excess of €50M is highly desirable.
Previous experience working with hyperscale or colocation clients is considered a strong advantage.
Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of CSA, MEP, commissioning, and construction delivery processes.
Experience managing complex project interfaces and multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of commercial management, contract administration, and risk management.
Familiarity with project controls, scheduling, and reporting platforms.
