Electrical Manager - Data Centres

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Manager to lead the delivery of electrical systems on a major data centre project in Norway.

Reporting to the Electrical Package Manager and working closely with project leadership, the Electrical Manager will be responsible for managing all electrical construction activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The successful candidate will oversee electrical subcontractors, coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, and drive the installation, testing, commissioning support, and handover of critical electrical infrastructure including power distribution, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, lighting, and associated systems.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Project Delivery

• Manage and oversee all electrical installation activities across assigned project areas.

• Ensure electrical works are executed in accordance with project specifications, drawings, standards, and programme requirements.

• Lead the planning and sequencing of electrical works to support efficient project delivery.

• Monitor progress against project milestones and implement corrective actions where required.

Subcontractor Management

• Lead and coordinate electrical subcontractors and specialist vendors.

• Ensure labour, materials, plant, and resources are available to support planned activities.

• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and quality standards.

• Foster strong working relationships with project partners and stakeholders.

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

• Track electrical installation progress against project schedules and short-term plans.

• Prepare and present regular progress reports to project leadership.

• Identify potential risks, delays, and constraints and develop mitigation strategies.

• Support project controls and forecasting activities.

Quality Management

• Ensure all electrical installations meet project quality standards and client requirements.

• Conduct inspections, walk-downs, and quality reviews throughout construction.

• Work closely with QA/QC teams to identify, manage, and close quality issues.

• Support the development and completion of inspection and test records.

System Integration & Commissioning Support

• Coordinate with MEP, CSA, and commissioning teams to ensure systems are delivered in a structured and phased manner.

• Support testing, energisation, and commissioning activities.

• Ensure systems are installation-complete and ready for turnover.

• Assist in achieving successful project handover and operational readiness.

Health, Safety & Compliance

• Promote and maintain the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance.

• Ensure electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements, are fully implemented.

• Conduct safety inspections, toolbox talks, and adherence reviews.

• Support enforcement of company and project HSE policies.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Collaborate with project directors, construction teams, design teams, procurement personnel, and consultants.

• Liaise with clients, suppliers, vendors, and regulatory authorities as required.

• Participate in coordination meetings and provide technical and construction input.

• Contribute to project planning and risk management initiatives.

What We're Looking For

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Relevant industry certifications and professional memberships are advantageous.

Experience

• Minimum 8-10 years' experience managing electrical construction activities on large-scale projects.

• Experience within data centres, industrial facilities, pharmaceutical plants, commercial developments, or mission-critical environments is highly desirable.

• Proven experience managing electrical subcontractors and multidisciplinary site teams.

• Experience supporting testing, commissioning, and system handover activities.

• Knowledge of fast-track construction and project delivery methodologies.

Technical Skills

• Strong knowledge of:

  • High and low voltage electrical systems

  • Power distribution systems

  • UPS systems

  • Standby generators

  • Lighting and containment systems

  • Earthing and bonding systems

  • Fire alarm and life safety systems

• Understanding of construction sequencing and interface management.

• Familiarity with BIM coordination and construction management tools.

• Strong Microsoft Office skills.

• Working knowledge of international electrical standards and regulations.

• Fluent English, both written and spoken.
