Special Packages Engineer - Projects (Norway)
Lead design and integration of modular MEP packages for data centers. Coordinate vendors, ensure compliance, and deliver high-reliability mission-critical systems on time.
Special Package Engineer
We are looking for a skilled Special Package Engineer to lead the technical design, procurement support, and integration of specialized modular packages for hyperscale and colocation data centers. You will ensure that complex Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems are delivered as “plug-and-play” units, bridging the gap between site construction and product engineering.
What You’ll Do
You will oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring they meet project requirements and high-quality standards. You will coordinate and lead subcontractors and site teams, conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, and ensure all systems comply with local codes, regulations, and global data center standards. You will define technical specifications for modular infrastructure, act as the primary technical point of contact for vendors, support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), and collaborate with field teams for seamless integration and commissioning. You will also analyze performance issues and drive design improvements to enhance energy efficiency and reliability.
Key responsibilities include:
Overseeing mechanical systems design, installation, and commissioning
Leading and coordinating subcontractors and site teams
Conducting inspections to ensure quality, safety, and compliance
Troubleshooting mechanical issues during construction and commissioning
Defining technical specifications for modular infrastructure (e.g., containerized power rooms, cooling skids, integrated rack suites)
Managing vendor interfaces and supporting FAT
Ensuring packages comply with reliability, safety, sustainability, and local code requirements
Supporting commissioning and integration with Building Management Systems (BMS)
Driving performance optimization and design improvements
Who We’re Looking For
You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering and have at least 3 years of experience in mission-critical environments, such as data centers, oil & gas modules, or offshore power systems. You have multidisciplinary coordination experience, hands-on involvement in technical design and execution, and familiarity with high-reliability systems. You are detail-oriented, structured, a clear communicator, and able to collaborate across global teams and time zones.
Qualifications & Skills:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
3+ years in mission-critical or data center environments
Strong understanding of critical power and cooling systems (UPS, switchgear, generators, CRAH)
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit; experience with DCIM tools
Strong interface management and multidisciplinary coordination skills
Hands-on technical design and execution experience
High attention to detail, structured, and reliable
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Why Join Us
You will play a key role in delivering high-reliability modular systems on cutting-edge data center projects. You will coordinate with global teams, interface with vendors, and ensure mission-critical infrastructure is delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
