HSE Auditor – Construction Projects (Norway)

HSE Auditor
We are looking for a structured and proactive HSE Auditor to join our construction projects in Norway. You will play a key role in ensuring our subcontractors comply with labor, HSE, and regulatory requirements, helping us promote fair working conditions and a responsible supply chain. This is a site-focused role with close collaboration across HSE, Compliance, HR, and Procurement teams.
What You’ll Do
On a typical day, you will plan and perform audits of subcontractors, review documents, conduct interviews, and verify compliance with regulations such as the General Application Act (Allmenngjøringsloven) and the Duty to Provide Information. You will follow up on non-compliances, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and prepare audit reports for management. You will also contribute to improving internal procedures, contracts, and control systems, and provide advisory support on HSE and subcontractor compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning, performing, and following up on audits of subcontractors
Verifying compliance with the General Application Act, collective agreements, and regulatory requirements
Conducting document reviews, interviews, and on-site inspections
Following up on non-compliances and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
Documenting and reporting subcontractor compliance
Handling requests for access to information from employee representatives
Preparing audit reports and presenting findings to management
Supporting improvements in procedures, contracts, and internal control systems
Advising internal teams on HSE, compliance, and subcontractor management
Who We’re Looking For
You have relevant education in HSE, auditing, law, HR, or a related field, and experience with HSE work, audits, or subcontractor follow-up. You have strong knowledge of the General Application Act, regulatory compliance, pay and working conditions, and collective bargaining systems. You are structured, thorough, and self-driven, with high integrity and professional confidence in engaging subcontractors and internal stakeholders. Fluent English is required; Norwegian is a plus.
Qualifications & Skills:
Relevant education in HSE, auditing, law, HR, or related field
Experience with HSE audits, subcontractor follow-up, or compliance work
Knowledge of labor laws, the General Application Act, and collective agreements
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (Norwegian is an advantage)
Professional, structured, and thorough approach
Ability to handle complex and sensitive matters with discretion
Confident in stakeholder engagement and advisory support
