Director of Operations
The Director of Operations is the dedicated owner of the overall follow-up of our projects, whether active and ready to start or still under discussion. Once all the lights turn green, our projects accelerate very quickly: this role allows us to absorb that ramp-up without losing quality of execution, and gives leadership a consolidated view of the portfolio.
CTS Europe France is a small team backed by CTS Group, a 2,500-person organisation with almost ten years of data center delivery. The day-to-day feel is close to a start-up – short decision lines, broad scope, processes being built – but with the accountability of a subsidiary: existing clients and partners, Group standards and accounts to give back to the Group.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Director of Operations include:
Portfolio Oversight
· Own the consolidated view of all projects – active, mobilising and in the pipeline – covering programme, cost, resources, risk and HSE.
· Produce clear, regular portfolio reporting for the CEO.
· Anticipate go-decisions and have mobilisation plans ready before contracts are signed.
Delivery and Execution
· Lead and support the Project Directors, set delivery standards and hold teams to them.
· Run regular project reviews (programme, cost-to-complete, change, cash) and step in early when a project drifts.
· Apply CTS Group processes consistently, adapted to French regulations and practice.
Scaling and Resources
· Plan people, subcontractor and supplier capacity so the business can scale quickly when projects accelerate.
· Coordinate with the Group, including our Portugal-based teams, and existing partners to mobilise additional capacity.
· Set procurement strategy for long-lead equipment and frame agreements with the Procurement Department.
Commercial Support
· Provide delivery input, pricing reviews and go/no-go views to the Business Development / Engagement Manager.
· Maintain senior relationships with key clients and partners.
HSE Leadership
· Respects the processes and practices of CTS EUROPE FRANCE.
· Applies the CTS EUROPE FRANCE HSE policy and, more generally, French labour law (Code du travail).
Authorities
· Full authority over project delivery across the French portfolio, within the delegation of authority.
· Allocates resources between projects.
· Senior escalation point for clients on delivery matters.
Education
· Engineering degree (diplôme d'ingénieur / Master) or equivalent experience.
· French: native or professional working proficiency.
· English: professional working proficiency.
Functional Knowledge and Skills
· 15+ years in construction, including significant data center delivery on the contractor side.
· Strong command of French contracts, subcontracting, HSE and regulatory requirements.
· Portfolio-level planning, cost control and reporting.
Experience Requirements
· Experience managing several major projects at once, as Operations Director or senior Project Director.
· Experience building or scaling a delivery organisation.
Soft Skills
· Structured, calm under pressure and decisive.
· A leader people want to follow.
· Comfortable building processes in a small team while reporting into a larger group.
· Clear communicator with clients, teams and the Group.
